Help launch the holiday season in Mill Creek at the annual Santa Parade and Tree Lighting on Saturday, Dec. 1. These festive events have fun features for the whole family including cookie decorating, carriage rides, photos with Santa and musical performances.

The Santa Parade starts in Mill Creek Town Center at 3:30 p.m. beginning at LA Fitness (15024 Main St.) and winding south on Main Street to the City Hall North parking lot (15720 Main St.). The parade is co-hosted by the Mill Creek Town Center Business Association and the City of Mill Creek. Free train rides for kids are available from 2-6 p.m., sponsored by First Financial Northwest Bank and free carriage rides are available from 4:30 – 6:30, sponsored by Community Transit.

The Tree Lighting immediately follows the parade at 4 p.m. at City Hall South (15728 Main St.). The event includes performances by the Henry M. Jackson High School drum line and Voices Northwest Chorus. The community will count down together to light the large tree outside City Hall South. Cookie decorating will follow in the City Hall South lobby area.

A free Cherry Cherry Christmas Concert will be held at the Forum (15129 Main St.) from 6-8 p.m., sponsored by North Creek Roofing.

The Santa Parade and Tree Lighting will affect traffic. From 3 – 4:15 p.m., Main Street will be closed for the parade from 151st Street SE to City Hall North. The parking lot at LA Fitness will close temporarily for parade staging. And there is no parking at Iron Grill (15418 Main St.) from 2 to 7 p.m. for carriage rides.

The City of Mill Creek’s Tree Lighting activities are sponsored by Dentists of Mill Creek, Sprouts Farmer’s Market, Community Transit, Nancy’s Noah’s Ark, Central Market, Waste Management, Fred Meyer, Mill Creek Rotary, Boston’s Restaurant, Mill Creek Chamber of Commerce, Windermere Real Estate, Starbucks, FROST, Berkshire Hathaway- Alvaro Herrera, Copiers Etcetera, Mathnasium of Mill Creek, Sullivan Orthodontics, The Goddard School, Washington Energy Service, WMST Drive, and Primrose School of Mill Creek. The community is encouraged to support the organizations that support the Mill Creek community.
