An image of staff at Lorinda'sWhen customers walk into Lorinda’s Salon Spa Store, they immediately know that they can be taken care of from head to toe.

The front of the store actually shimmers with pink reflective sign accessories, which sets the inside up to really sparkle. That is the same approach to Lorinda’s services; they want all guests to be radiant following their experience.

Walking in doesn’t disappoint, as a welcoming staff greets clients with a smile and immediately offers them a beverage.

Lorinda Cook and her mother, Cindy Royce, opened Lorinda’s Salon Spa Store in 1984, one year after Mill Creek was officially incorporated, in the Village by the Creek shopping center. At the time, it was called Lorinda’s Hair and Tanning Salon.

“I remember when we first opened that perms and tanning were all the rage,” said Cook. “We have changed a lot since then, but we have always remained in Mill Creek and the Village by the Creek shopping center.”

With the name change in 1995 to Lorinda’s Salon Spa Store, the company focus also shifted to eliminate tanning and focus on hair and skin services that use products with the newest advances in technology and natural nails.

Lorinda’s Salon Spa Store also prides itself on staying on top of cutting-edge techniques and styles, such as digital face mapping to help with skin care, and investing in sending their employees to top-rated professionals all around the country for further training.

“We invest in continuing education for our current team members,” said Cook. “We also offer an apprenticeship and internship program to help develop new talent and set them up to be successful in our field.”

An image of creative energy at work at Lorinda's Salon Spa StoreThis year, Lorinda’s celebrates 35 years of business. Some of the staff have been part of the community for almost as long. One team member, Sandy Bronn, has been with the company for 33 years this August and works as an artistic designer and salon educator.

“I love doing hair and making people feel better,” said Bronn. “The team of people we have here to take care of clients makes their visits so special.”

Long time Mill Creek resident Joyce Stave has been coming to Lorinda’s as Sandy’s client since she was 18 years old, now almost 33 years ago. “I brought my daughter here when she was young,” said Stave. “On her wedding day, we were back here at Lorinda’s getting the entire wedding party’s hair done.”
