The sound of excitement as kids learn about vegetables and select a new one to take home. The Mill Creek Farmers Market launches May 25 at noon and will bring a fresh new feel to the City. The market will be held at Mill Creek City Hall North, 15720 Main St.

A grand opening event is slated for noon on May 25 and includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Opening day attendees will receive token items commemorating the event.

Vendors on tap for opening week include: Hayton Farms Berries; Crooked Forks Farms; Sky Valley Family Farm specializing in chicken, pork, beef and eggs; Bubba’s Salsa; Golden Girls Honey and Hives; Land of the Living Apothecary; and Pixie Dance Hoops, among many others.

“Ann and Don Jenkins, local musicians, will enhance the market on opening day with live music,” said Sarah Jensen, Mill Creek Farmers Market manager. “Other musicians will perform on different weeks throughout the market season. We encourage people to bring camp chairs and take time to linger in the market enjoying the experience.”

Kids are encouraged to join the Power of Produce Club, which will launch June 22 following the end of the school year. There will be weekly activities, tastings and demonstrations. POP Club kids receive two $1 tokens to spend at the market, allowing them to make their own shopping decisions. Businesses looking for volunteer or team-building experiences have an opportunity to participate with the POP Club, such as leading an activity. For details, contact Sarah Jensen at or 425-280-4150.

Special Mill Creek Farmers Market bags will be available for purchase for $5. “The City supports green initiatives, and we’re encouraging the use of reusable bags to transport market goods to reduce litter and promote sustainable living,” said Jensen. “It’s a natural fit with a farmers market.”

The inaugural Mill Creek Farmers Market poster, created by local artist Colleen Stone with View from the Heart, will be available as a collector’s item for $3 each.
